The Target
Targets in Flare are required in order to output the topic content to different formats or to specific requirements.
Multiple Targets can be created within a project which customize the output based on the specific requirements of your audience or distribution platform.
Each Target is linked to a specific Table of Contents which contains the assembled topics.
Sample Targets have been created and are available in the Project Organizer > Targets folder.
The following are some commonly used Output Types which are used for different destinations.
HTML5
HTML5 targets are the preferred output for uploading content to the web for viewing on various devices, including laptops, tablets, and mobile devices. They use responsive display principles to adapt to different screen sizes. All content within an HTML5 output is packaged into a specific folder, with the default.htm file being the 'index' file which opens the contents.
PDF targets produce documentation in Portable Document Format (PDF), which is a widely used format for printable documents. The target can be output so that the HTML 'skin' is removed, and page numbers added to the documentation. A Table of Contents, commensurate with the TOC included in the Target can also be included.
Word
An output can be created which produces a Microsoft Word document. As with a PDF, the target can be output so that the HTML 'skin' is removed, and page numbers added to the documentation. A Table of Contents, commensurate with the TOC included in the Target can also be included.
