Exploded View

Format > Exploded View

An exploded view of an assembly shows a representation of the components of an assembly in an isolated and independent format organized such that they represent how they would be assembled into a finished design.

The Exploded View tool creates an exploded view of an assembly whereby the independent components are separated along a defined X, Y and Z axis.

In instances where 2 axes are defined, the exploded parts will be created along a plane, whereas, in the case of 3 axes being defined, the exploded view will be created in a 3-dimensional spatial aspect.

A Block of the exploded view can be created in the Blocks palette. This is useful for the final viewport layout when creating viewports of the full assembly and exploded parts is required.

NOTE : The Exploded View is a visual representation only. Parts can be modified after an Exploded View is created, but the assembly cannot be recomposed.

Options include :

  • Creating a Block of the Exploded View
  • Defining an X, Y, Z, or Arbitrary Axis
  • Manually defining the space between the separated parts
